SME Partners with SAMPE to Showcase Manufacturing and Materials Applications



DEARBORN, Mich., - Manufacturing with Composites, a conference on cutting-edge composite applications produced by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), co-locates with SAMPE Tech, the largest fall event in the materials and processes industry delivered by the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE).

The composites event will take place October 22-24 at the Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston, S.C, with SAMPE Tech taking place October 22-25. These co-located conferences create a valuable opportunity for manufacturing professionals to network with industry peers and discover ways to cut manufacturing costs while achieving best-in-class quality. SME will offer a tour of the new Boeing Dreamliner Airline assembly plant on October 22.

Manufacturing with Composites conference will have technical sessions to showcase manufacturing applications specific to aerospace, automotive, wind energy, tooling for aircraft primary structural components and non-aerospace composite applications. Composites industry experts will participate in unique panel presentations. Topics include aircraft composites, automotive composite applications and thermoplastic processing.

SAMPE Tech 2012 event highlights include 200 exhibiting companies, four panels led by industry leaders and 150 applications and research presentations. Six conference tracks will be available, including rapid processing, sustainable energy and nanocomposites.

Keynote presentations, sponsored by SAMPE, include Nicole Piasecki, vice president of business development and strategic integration, Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Bill Fitzgerald, vice president and general manager of commercial engines operation, GE Aviation.

Conference registration will include access to SAMPE exhibits, keynotes, welcome reception, daily box lunch and coffee breaks. With additional registration fee, attendees can also attend the SAMPE conference sessions.

Manufacturing with Composites conference was developed in cooperation with advisors from SME's Plastics, Composites & Coatings Community.
