MOBILE, AL (May 11, 2008) - Atlantic Marine Shipyard www.atlanticmarine.com in Mobile, Alabama recently commissioned Saar-Hartmetall USA's Gerima SKF hand-held beveling tool for use by its shipfitters. The main application for this tool is for radius cutting steel plate for paint preparation. The advantages of this hand-held tool came to light due to its ease of use and that the tool can follow a multitude of contoured edges making it very easy for the shipyard to train new workers.
Our tool was recently featured in an article about ship building in Alabama's Press-Register www.al.com/mobileregister In the picture below, the shipfitter is radius cutting the edges of a piece of the internal structural support system of a ship at Atlantic Marine.
