Lithium batteries are a critical component of any electric vehicle, and developing the highest quality batteries that are safe and reliable is a complex challenge. SGS' accredited laboratories are a recognized partner of the automotive and battery industries. Our highly qualified, specialized teams provide testing, approval, certification and inspection services during product generation, operation and disposal. SGS' services encompass a variety of global specifications that account for performance, safety and electrical hazards, reliability, vibration testing, lifecycle testing, functional safety according ISO 26262, as well as include services that test according to the OEMs' specifications and provide European Vehicle Homologation Services according EU directives 2007/46/EC and 2002/24/EC.

In addition to testing of Lithium batteries, SGS also offers further services for the automotive industry. E.g. SGS seatbelt testing solutions are designed to help companies meet and surpass the quality and regulatory demands of today's highly competitive automotive market. The SGS seat belt testing laboratory in Fairfield, N.J., is ISO 17025 accredited to perform testing to all of the required standards and the majority of voluntary standards of the automotive industry.
