SB Machine Tools Takes Its Lineup to the Next Level with Japantek's Revolutionary 5-Axis/5-Face 5X-410 Machining Center

Schaumburg, IL - The revolutionary 5X-410 Machining Center from JapanTek provides a remarkable and unique 5-face/5-axis machining advantage. SB Machine Tools' addition of this one-of-a-kind machine augments their lineup of advanced metalworking solutions, each the leader in its field.

Contrasted with a conventional articulating spindle head, the 5X-410 Machining Center boasts a complete, and cutting edge 120º (90º +/- 15º) tilting spindle head to achieve 5-face/5-axis performance. This unique design, combined with a fully controlled, double-worm gear driven pallet and extended linear strokes (X, Y, Z), provides an enhanced, yet simplified approach to simultaneous, multi-axis machining.

Directionally dedicated and fully flexible, JapanTek's 120º head is expected to revolutionize a myriad of manufacturing processes in several industries. The 5X-410 offers four machining capabilities in one machine: 5 axis machining with APC, 5 face machining with APC, horizontal machining with APC, and vertical machining with APC. Unlike cradle or trunnion types, the 5X-410 maintains original strokes and part size/weight envelopes, while offering better accessibility. Contrasted with tilting table / articulating head types, the 5X-410 is much easier to program and operate.

Protracted cycle times and excessive scrap are often the by-products of the numerous fixturing requirements of multiple-operations, or complex parts. The 5X-410 eliminates this loss with its single set-up, two-pallet APC advantage. Precise 5-axis/5-face milling, drilling, and tapping are seamlessly accomplished on even the most intricate shapes. The 5X-410 is ideally suited for numerous aviation, aerospace, medical, automotive, and die & mold applications and requirements.

The 16" square pallet on the 5X-410 perfectly accommodates a 16"(W) x 16"(L) part, and allows for full four sides and top surface machining on any 16" x 16" x 16" part. From any angle, the X-axis travel is 25.6". At spindle vertical, the Y-axis travel is 16", and the Z-axis (table surface to spindle nose) travel is 21.7". At spindle horizontal, the Y-axis travel ranges from 2.8" - 25.6", and the Z-axes (table surface to spindle nose) travel ranges from 0-24".

A 30 HP main motor, a 60-tool magazine with ATC, coolant through the spindle, a full enclosure and a two pallet APC (sold as a costly option on most machines) are all included as standard features. The standard speed of the CAT-40 spindle is 12,000 rpm; 15,000 rpm is available as an option. Additionally, a multitude of control functions necessary for 5-axis operation, usually added on as options, are included JapanTek's standard 5X-410 Machining Center packaging.

JapanTek's 5X-410 is available in the U.S. exclusively from SB Machine Tools.

The 5X-410 will be on display during IMTS in booth #S-9463.
