WARRENDALE, Pa., -- School bus propulsion systems will be on the agenda during SAE International's 2011 School Bus Powertrain Innovation Symposium, Dec. 5 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C.

This one-day event is designed to help attendees make properly informed decisions about the pros and cons of converting their buses to either hybrid electric, propane, or compressed natural gas technology. OEM, supplier and peer-to-peer presentations and panel discussions, along with a grant writing workshop and ride-along, are integral parts of this program.

Keynote speaker for the symposium will be Mark S. Smith, Vehicle Technologies Deployment Manager, Department of Energy, Clean City Program. In his role, Smith's responsibilities include developing outreach strategies for implementing new national partnerships between industry and the DOE Clean Cities program to successfully deploy new vehicle technologies.
