The SAE 2008 World Congress marks its 75th anniversary in Detroit on April 14-17 at Cobo Center. It is hosted by Chrysler and chaired by Frank Klegon, Chrysler's Executive Vice President of Product Development. The theme of this year's event is A Climate for Change. Originally called the SAE Annual Meeting, the SAE 2008 World Congress relocated from New York City to Detroit in January 1933.

WARRENDALE, Pa., March 12, 2008 - The SAE 2008 World Congress marks its 75th anniversary in Detroit April 14-17 at Cobo Center.
The SAE World Congress, originally called the SAE Annual Meeting, relocated from New York City to Detroit in January 1933. Formerly held at the Book-Cadillac Hotel, the four-day event included 15 sessions and attracted more than 3,000 attendees. Among the featured speakers that year was Kaufman Thuma "K.T." Keller, then Vice-President and General Manager of Chrysler.
"Detroit has played a valuable role in the rich history of our Society, and the city continues to serve as an international gathering place for engineers to discuss the future of the global automotive industry," said David Amati, Director, Global Automotive Business and Automotive Headquarters, SAE International. "SAE International is committed to its relationship with Detroit, and looks forward to holding its 75th World Congress in the city."
