Romantis and Sevis Systems Partner to Provide Best in Class Satellite Backhaul Solutions to Mobile Operators
MONTREAL, QC and PLANO, TX - Romantis, a global provider of satellite capacity and leading edge satellite networking equipment, and Sevis Systems, a global provider of advanced mobile solutions, announced today a launch of a new cost-effective solution for satellite cellular backhaul. The solution is based on a combination of the Romantis UHP satellite networking product and Sevis 6000 Series backhaul optimization product.
The Romantis UHP product provides an ultra-compact, high-performance platform which embodies the latest achievements in software engineering and semiconductor technology. It is 100% software-definable and can be remotely configured to support TDMA shared bandwidth networking (up to 8,000 remotes in hub-centric star or hub-less mesh topologies) or SCPC dedicated bandwidth networking (QPSK, 8PSK and 16APSK from 100 kbps to 86 Mbps). The right configuration can be chosen based on the amount of traffic for a particular cell-site and the required type of installation and maintenance. The configuration can be changed remotely as the network evolves. Romantis UHP also has a Full Mesh configuration which when applied to a cellular backhaul link, multiplexes both directions of the link onto the same carrier on the satellite. Together with the industry-leading Sevis optimization solution, it achieves significant savings in bandwidth consumed by cellular traffic.
The Sevis 6000 Series mobile backhaul product leads the industry in its optimization efficiency. It is extensively deployed with tier 1 mobile operators around the world. With enhanced 3G and 4G/LTE cellular network support currently being released, Sevis' position as a market leader in advanced mobile solutions will only strengthen. As part of the certification and interoperability testing, Sevis' products were networked with the UHP IP network product in both SCPC and TDMA configuration and tested against various types of mobile traffic. The successful completion of interoperability testing validated quality of service for media and control plane traffic, all voice codecs, signaling, and data. The optimization rate averaged greater than 50% - best in class.
