Palmyra, N.Y., February 21, 2011 - Rolf Manser has joined Garlock Sealing Technologies as North American pharmaceutical and food industries marketing manager. Based in Boston, Mass., he will interface directly with companies in these industries, working closely with Garlock product line management, engineering and sales to deliver a customer-driven portfolio of products.
"Rolf brings extensive sales and marketing experience to this position, most recently in the biotechnology industry," said Janet C. Jessen in announcing the appointment, Garlock vice president of global marketing, engineering and innovation. "As such, he is uniquely qualified to drive the profitable growth of our extensive line of FDA-compliant sealing products for hygienic service applications."
Manser comes to Garlock from Bioengineering, Inc., Waltham, Mass., where he served as country manager for this subsidiary of Switzerland's Bioengineering AG, which specializes in the design and production of microbiological plants, bioreactors, fermenters and components for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Previously he worked for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Ltd. and MHI Corrugating Company Europe BV in both project and sales management positions.
He holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Winterthur Polytechnic School of Engineering, Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, and has studied process development and production issues for monoclonal and recombinant antibodies at the Williamsburg Bioprocessing Foundation. He is a member of the Subcommittee on Design of the ASME Bioprocessing Equipment Committee. Manser served as a captain in the Swiss Army, and is fluent in French, German, Italian and Spanish.
