Rohde & Schwarz to Showcase T&M Equipment for LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation, VoLTE, and IEEE 802.11ac at MWC 2013

At this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz will again demonstrate its leadership as a reliable partner of the wireless communications industry. The T&M specialist will present its broad portfolio of test solutions for all important cellular and noncellular standards in hall 6, booth E30, on the new Fira Gran Via trade fair grounds. The Rohde & Schwarz Press Day, which starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013, will give journalists an overview of the company's innovations.

Munich - In Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz will introduce a solution for LTE-Advanced downlink carrier aggregation in line with 3GPP Release 10 for the field-tested R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester. Developers of next-generation chipsets and terminals can now use the R&S CMW500 to perform verification and throughput tests. The tester can handle any combination of bands and bandwidths with two carriers including 2x2 MIMO. Carrier aggregation, a key feature of LTE-Advanced, will allow network operators to achieve higher data rates.

Another important development in 2013 will be the rollout of services via IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) in the LTE network as in voice over LTE (VoLTE). Rohde & Schwarz will present an integrated voice over IMS test solution for LTE (VoLTE) as well as for other radio access technologies such as WLAN. In addition, video quality tests can be performed by combining the R&S CMW500 with the R&S VTE video tester.

Another highlight at the Rohde & Schwarz booth will be a solution for analyzing LTE MIMO signals using a digital oscilloscope. The signal is acquired with the R&S RTO high-performance oscilloscope and analyzed on a PC with the R&S FS-K102PC EUTRA/LTE downlink MIMO software. Since the R&S RTO has four RF inputs, signals with up to 4x4 MIMO can be acquired using a single oscilloscope.

Today's base stations integrate many different technologies and simultaneously transmit different wireless communications standards. The R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyzer with its built-in multistandard radio analyzer functionality is an ideal test solution for developers of state-of-the-art base station components. The MSRA mode enables users to measure the spectrum and modulation parameters of differently modulated signals, including their time references. This feature makes it easy to analyze whether signals are influencing or interfering with each other.

The future IEEE 802.11ac WLAN standard is destined to be a critical technology for manufacturers of mobile user equipment. New options for the R&S SMBV100A vector signal generator make it possible to generate IEEE 802.11ac WLAN signals with a bandwidth of 160 MHz without additional equipment. The R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer allows developers to record WLAN signals across the entire bandwidth of 160 MHz and to demodulate them with unrivaled accuracy. Rohde & Schwarz offers the right test solution to any developer who does not want to wait till tomorrow to create chipsets and modules according to IEEE 802.11ac.
