Max Machinery, Inc. has developed a niche application for the Model 234, piston style flow meter. The Model 234 has been specifically designed to measure non-lubricating and water based liquids, such as the antiscalant used in the Reverse Osmosis process.
Water desalinization is a growing industry as coastal communities, parks, golf courses and industrial firms all compete for a share of the dwindling, fresh water supply. A large part of the capital investment required to put a desalinization plant on-line can be seen in the racks of filter membranes that separate the fresh water from the progressively saltier discharge water. A plant that fails to treat the incoming water correctly, faces the risk of turning tens of thousands of dollars of membranes into uncleanable, salt licks. By using the Max Model 234 meter to verify continual dosing of the antiscalant, the operators know that their investment is being protected and the process is running as designed.
