Remedy Informatics to Provide New Technology Platform for the American Society of Clinical Oncology's (ASCO) Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI)

Remedy's registry technology will enable real-time aggregation of data and analytics from cancer centers across the country

SALT LAKE CITY – Remedy Informatics, Inc., the leading provider of registry-based clinical informatics software for healthcare delivery and life sciences research, announced that it has been selected by the American Society of Clinical Oncology® (ASCO®) to provide the technology platform for the nationwide Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®).

ASCO is upgrading its current QOPI registry technology to meet evolving data collection, analysis and management needs. The goal is to implement a more flexible system that will allow ASCO staff to update the system and conduct routine changes as needed. With the new registry system in place, participating practices will be able to report data from a variety of sources, including direct entry and EHRs, into the QOPI system and receive feedback on the program's quality measures and their progress in improving cancer care. The goal of the QOPI program is to create a culture of self-examination and improvement among oncology providers, and feasible, actionable quality reporting remains the core focus of the program.

"We have spent nearly a decade developing our registry technology and I am thrilled to see an organization like ASCO select our Mosaic™ Platform for the QOPI program," said Gary Kennedy, Founder & CEO of Remedy Informatics. "The goals of the QOPI program align perfectly with our corporate mission to tangibly, measurably and permanently improve healthcare outcomes around the world. I am confident that oncologists and their patients will benefit from a program built on the advanced pattern recognition software supplied by our technology."

Remedy's registries are built on its flagship Mosaic Platform, which offers highly configurable, user-friendly clinical informatics solutions that are designed to evolve with an organization's changing needs over time without intervention from IT departments or outside technology consultants. The Mosaic Platform will enable the QOPI program to ease the administrative requirements of data submission and generate quality reports more frequently for participating practices. Advanced platform-based pattern recognition and data visualization tools will power data analysis designed to understand and improve quality of cancer care.

"As we embark on the next phase of evolution in our QOPI program, it was critical to offer our members flexibility, efficiency, and the latest in data analytics tools," said Allen S. Lichter, MD, FASCO, CEO of ASCO. "Remedy Informatics' system met these criteria, providing the technology and expertise to help us bring this respected program to the next level."

ASCO initiated its QOPI program in 2002 with the goal of promoting excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for hematology-oncology practices. Data submitted by participating practices is aggregated into a central database and analyzed according to detailed specifications for more than 170 ASCO quality measures. QOPI measures are created and maintained by oncologists, researchers and other oncology experts appointed to ASCO committees. Currently, nearly 300 practices submit their data each reporting round to QOPI for analysis and feedback.
