Global Event for Biotechnology to be Held June 18-21, 2012 in Boston

2012 BIO International Convention

WASHINGTON--The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced today that registration for the 2012 BIO International Convention is now available. Hosted by BIO, the global event for biotechnology will be held June 18-21, 2012 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. The Convention showcases the many ways in which biotech continues to offer answers and hope for the world's most pressing issues and provide high-quality, high-wage jobs.

The 2012 BIO International Convention will feature more than 125 sessions in 13 breakout session tracks addressing the latest business opportunities, challenges, information and the newest innovations for executives, investors, scientists, and policy leaders. More than 1,000 speakers will share breakthroughs in medicine, diagnostics, the environment, energy production, food and agriculture and more.

The BIO International Convention also includes the BIO Business Forum, which offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity for large and small biotech companies to gather in one place, at one time to engage in partnering discussions. Last year, the BIO Business Forum hosted a record breaking 21,183 partnering meetings between 2,410 companies discussing licensing, deal making and potential collaborations.

For the first time at the 2012 BIO International Convention, BIO will offer expanded partnering opportunities by providing access to a greater number of companies and other potential partners within the BIO One-on-One PartneringTM and greater flexibility in scheduling meetings and meeting location.

In 2011, the Convention held in Washington, DC attracted 15,626 industry leaders from 48 states and 65 countries. In addition, the event drew 11 U.S. Governors and more than 100 international public officials.
