Transportation Disaster Response - Advanced Skills in Disaster Family Assistance will be held at NTSB Training Center on June 9-11, 2009. Registration Still Open for June 2009 NTSB Advanced Disaster Response Course
The National Transportation Safety Board is offering a three-day course, Transportation Disaster Response - Advanced Skills in Disaster Family Assistance, at its NTSB Training Center near Washington, D.C. on June 9-11, 2009.
This course will explore the unique set of leadership skills required to successfully manage the family assistance process within the chaotic post-disaster environment. Participants will be provided with decision-making tools, crisis communication strategies, and methods for deploying resources to families.
The curriculum is targeted at commercial transportation officials employed in any mode of transportation (aviation, rail, pipeline, highway or marine), representatives of federal agencies, staff of non-governmental relief organizations, and emergency managers.
Audio/video materials, case studies, recent accident examples, and panel discussions are employed to illustrate the unique aspects of supporting families during a transportation disaster.
