Innovative Mapping Tool Helps Enterprise Customers Visualize Network-Based Risks
SAN FRANCISCO -- RSA 2011 Conference -- RedSeal Systems, Inc., the leading provider of security posture management solutions, today announced it has been awarded a new patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Risk Map technology that allows enterprises to quickly and easily visualize risks to their networks.
The patent, U.S. Patent number 7,890,869, was issued on February 15, 2011, and was authored by RedSeal Systems' Chief Scientist, Dr. Mike Lloyd.
RedSeal's Risk Map technology utilizes visual graphs, similar to heat maps, to illustrate high versus low areas of risk on a customer's network. Displaying a mix of colors and sizes to exemplify the magnitude of each threat, the Risk Map makes it easy for customers to immediately understand the "hotspots" in their networks where their assets and data are most at risk. This feature is especially beneficial for organizations with large, complex networks that store vast amounts of data that needs to be protected from external compromise and other network threats.

RedSeal's software automatically assesses the security posture of a network so organizations can strengthen their cyber-defenses. It continuously calculates the end-to-end interaction of firewalls, routers and load balancers, ensuring that the network does not provide any unauthorized access. It also analyzes the effects of network security on host-based vulnerabilities, identifying the areas of greatest risk to the enterprise and prioritizing remediation efforts. RedSeal enables organizations to comprehensively identify security holes in their infrastructure that could be exploited--before they are discovered by hackers.
This is the second patent granted to RedSeal Systems. The first patent was obtained in February 2006 for policy-based analysis of device configurations.
