Additions of user-defined inventory attributes and "display" item configuration help save time for solution users
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - RedPrairie Corporation, a productivity solutions provider, has included several key enhancements in its 2010.2 release of Warehouse Management, designed to further an established agenda of superior usability across its suite of solutions.

Among the new functionality in RedPrairie's 2010.2 Warehouse Management release is support for user-defined inventory attributes, which allows for a variety of data formats tracking item characteristics ranging from style to luminosity at the point of receipt through to the point of shipment. By automatically initiating configurable workflows upon creation, these attributes can allow users to capture and validate product characteristics beyond lot numbers, origin codes, and revision numbers that require attention throughout that product's life.
In addition, the new release features the ability to configure "display" items - identifiers for single products that differ in how they are integrated across systems, as well as how they are presented to end users across those same systems.
"In the past, sites with complex ERP systems needed to have a single base item code that was integrated differently across each WMS, and displayed uniquely to each user within each WMS," says Zickert. "Now, companies can control how the item is represented from an integration perspective, which may be different than how an end user needs to see the item code displayed."
