Press release date: April 19, 2012

Alameda, CA - P.J. Clarke's is the self-proclaimed "Vatican of Saloons" because of its 125-year old history. The bar has locations in New York, Washington, D.C., and Sao Paolo, Brazil. Its latest saloon in Las Vegas boasts the majestic "Phoenix" bar, acquired from the Rothschild estate in Bordeaux, France. This restored bar is the centerpiece of P.J. Clarke's at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

P.J. Clarke's asked Las Vegas, Nevada-based integrator FBP Systems to build a giant display wall as a backdrop for the historic bar. When turned off, the display wall is concealed behind a one-way mirror, preserving the bar's historic "saloon" ambiance. FBP chose a 2 x 4 array of Planar 46" flat panels for the displays. To drive them, they selected RGB Spectrum's MediaWall 4200 processor. To provide content, a bank of satellite receivers and digital signage players are fed into the processor. An HDCP option on the MediaWall processor allows for the display of protected content.

The MediaWall 4200 provides the reliability of an embedded operating system and the absence of hard drives. With a parallel video processing architecture, real-time display of inputs is guaranteed under all conditions without dropped frames. The processor can display up to 12 graphics and video signals on the 2x4 array of monitors, with signals displayed in windows anywhere, at any size, within or across screens, in correct aspect ratio or stretched to fit, in whole or zoomed in to emphasize details. MediaWall processors can provide unlimited display alternatives. For dramatic effect, any source image can be scaled to fill the entire wall, measuring over 160 inches wide with a combined resolution of 5464 x 1536 to create a stunning display.

According to Brad Jones, operations manager at FBP Systems, the MediaWall 4500 was a breeze to set up with its browser-based "Web Control Panel". Once presets were set they could be easily recalled from a Crestron control panel. This is Caesar's Palace and there is a lot of foot traffic. You can see the action on the video wall while walking along the main aisle through the Forum. The display is designed to attract passersby and draw them into the restaurant.
