TEL-AVIV, Israel -- RADWIN (http://www.radwin.com), the global provider of Backhaul and Broadband Wireless Solutions, today announced that its wireless broadband solutions were used to swiftly establish on-site communications to assist Chilean rescue and media teams during the world captivating and heroic rescue of 33 Codelco miners, trapped in a San Jose copper mine in August 2010.

RADWIN's Broadband Wireless Solutions were used to ensure reliable, real time voice, video and data communications between all parties involved in the rescue. RADWIN's solution was donated by RADWIN and its partner Transworld, following a request from CODELCO, one of the leading mining companies in Chile.

"When CODELCO, turned to us for help in creating a communications link for the rescue operation we knew we had to have something up and running within a day. We knew that RADWIN's solutions were the right choice for this task," said Alejandro Melipillan A., Wireless and Video Surveillance Product Manager at Transworld. "Thanks to RADWIN's solutions it was possible to swiftly communicate and coordinate in real time between all parties dealing with this crisis including rescue forces, hospitals, doctors, the media and more."

A Codelco representative confirmed that they were committed to ensuring the safety of their miners and that they saw Transworld as a natural partners to handle the intensive communications needs for the rescue mission through the use of RADWIN broadband wireless solutions.
