Auto-Discovery and Auto-Provisioning Simplify Configuration of Tenors Deployed by Service Providers to their Customers' Premises

EATONTOWN, N.J., Aug. 23 / / - Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technologies, announced today that they have completed beta testing of two new rapid deployment technologies that will allow their service provider customers to deploy Tenors and configure them automatically, without requiring an on-site visit to the customer location.

The Auto-discovery interface allows service providers to identify all Tenors being deployed on customer premises, by their IP Address, serial number, software version, and description. This information is transmitted to the Configuration Manager GUI to allow configuration of individual Tenors.

Tenors will also now include a well defined software interface that enables Auto-provisioning in conjunction with the service provider's existing back-office systems. When a Tenor is deployed, it will signal the service provider's network as soon as it is installed at the customer site. The Tenor will interface with the service provider's existing back-office OAM&P (Operation, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning) system to request the download of the relevant configuration file for that specific Tenor. The central system will then download the specific configuration file to bring up that particular remote Tenor and connect it to the VoIP service. All provisioning interactions are carried out using standard secure signaling protocols with individual unit authentication to insure maximum system integrity. In addition to providing this rapid auto-provisioning service, this mechanism can also be used for automatic software upgrades and other system maintenance tasks.

This new feature allows service providers to easily provision, configure, and manage their network of Tenors remotely. This will facilitate rapid deployment of new customer services and greatly reduce initial installation costs. And, with Quintum's external Remote Management Session Server, even Tenors deployed behind enterprise NAT firewalls can be easily evaluated, upgraded and configured.

One such service provider customer, AccessLine Communications, has been the first to deploy Tenors for digital service (T1/PRI) over their VoIP network to multiple business customers, utilizing the Auto-Provisioning feature. "With Tenor's auto-provisioning interface, we can deploy a Tenor, and within seconds, we have the configuration information from our Operational Support Systems (OSS) downloaded to the device," said Jerry Knight, Chief Technology Officer of AccessLine Communications. "This allows us to focus on customer service and not network configuration," added Knight.

"As VoIP is being adopted by mainstream business customers, service providers must be able to respond quickly to customer needs and minimize the cost of CPE deployment," said Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing at Quintum Technologies. "The Auto-discovery and Auto-provisioning features in the Tenor product line will support next generation service providers' ability to efficiently grow and support their customer base."

These two capabilities will be GA in October.
