Quinn Named Fundraising Specialist for Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs Foundation


ROCKFORD, Ill., March 8, 2010 - John J. Quinn has been named fundraising specialist for Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs℠ (NBT), the Foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA). Headquartered in Rockford, Ill., NBT introduces young people to careers in the trades through manufacturing summer camps for youth and scholarships to students at colleges and trade schools.

Quinn will lead NBT's development staff and work closely with the Foundation's board of directors to plan and execute a national fundraising program that has, during the past six years, donated more than $850,000 in scholarship funds for people learning new job skills in manufacturing. He will report directly to Gerald Shankel, FMA president and CEO.

Previously, Quinn was vice president, health care philanthropy practice manager at executive search firm Furst Group/MPI, Rockford, where he helped create a new, nationwide practice specializing in the recruitment of senior-level fundraising leaders for non-for-profit hospitals and health systems.

Prior to that position, Quinn was annual fund manger with SwedishAmerican Health System Medical Foundation, Rockford, where he solicited major gifts, led annual employee campaigns and guided a group of 20 major donors on a 10-day trip through Italy.

Quinn graduated cum laude from Rockford College with bachelor's degrees in philosophy and English literature and received a master's degree in medical ethics from Washington University in Seattle.

Quinn also has earned the certified fundraising executive (CFRE) credential, which demonstrates an individual's mastery of the standards that are set for core knowledge and skills required of fundraising executives. He is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International.

Based in Rockford, Ill., the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA), is a professional organization with more than 2,100 members working together to improve the metal forming and fabricating industry. Founded in 1970, FMA brings metal fabricators and fabricating equipment manufacturers together through technology councils, educational programs, networking events, and the FABTECH exposition.
