Sunnyvale, CA - QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the leader in low-power Customer Specific Standard Products (CSSPs), is proud to announce that Kyocera Corporation, a leading supplier of wireless products and accessories in Japan and North America, is the first smartphone OEM to bring a product to the Japan market using a CSSP that includes QuickLogic's Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) and Display Power Optimizer (DPO) technologies, and an integrated Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI) to RGB bridge. Kyocera announced on September 26 that its first Android smartphone for the Japan market, DIGNO, will be offered on KDDI Corporation's au network in Japan. The DIGNO smartphone supports Global Passport (GSM/CDMA) and 4G WiMAX standards, and is powered by a second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8x55 processor.

The DIGNO smartphone includes a One-Seg tuner for viewing mobile television on the smartphone display. The combination of the 4.0-inch WVGA (800x480) resolution OLED "Luminous Display" and VEE ensures DIGNO smartphone users enjoy a richer visual experience in all viewing conditions of One-Seg television, videos, photos and other high-resolution content. Kyocera designed the DIGNO smartphone for an amazing consumer experience through its light weight, super-slim body and exceptional battery life. Working in concert with VEE, QuickLogic's DPO technology significantly extends battery life while VEE enriches the viewing experience in all lighting conditions and enables use in direct sunlight.

"Kyocera has brought several innovations to market in its first Japanese Android smartphone, including the light-weight, super-slim body and vibrant display," said Brian Faith, VP of worldwide sales and marketing for QuickLogic. "We are excited and proud that Kyocera chose to leverage QuickLogic's VEE and DPO technology strengths in the DIGNO smartphone."

About VEE and DPO

Used together with VEE, QuickLogic's DPO technology enables system-level battery life extension by an average of 25% without compromising the user experience.
