PARIS and SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2011 - Qualcomm Atheros Inc., the networking and connectivity subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), and EDIMAX Technology, a leading provider of networking solutions, today announced the availability of a new carrier-grade video-over-wireless (VoW) bridge based on the Qualcomm Atheros AR9580 chip at the Broadband World Forum conference in Paris, France. The EDIMAX WV-A900APN enables seamless, carrier-grade multi-HD video streaming throughout the home and is ideal for glitch-free in-home video services distribution.
Qualcomm Atheros' three-stream 802.11n solutions are optimized for high-performance VoW applications. The AR9580 integrates Qualcomm Atheros' signal-sustain technology to virtually eliminate packet loss, thereby minimizing latency and providing error-free transmissions. The resulting bridge provides a better experience for end users due to a number of quality-of-service enhancements, including transmit buffering, video stream optimization and range improvement.
The new EDIMAX WV-A900APN VoW bridge offers a superior combination of range, performance and energy efficiency at a very competitive cost point, helping customers to accelerate time-to-market of their video streaming products by using this highly integrated solution.
