Partnership strives to help company become eligible for OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program
(Reading, PA, April 2, 2009) - Quadrant EPP and the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) jointly announced a partnership designed to foster a safe workplace for employees and implement a successful safety and health management system. A signing ceremony was held April 1, 2009 at Quadrant's Scranton, PA manufactuirng facility to officially launch the initiative.
"Initiatives like this immediately benefit our employees while making the company more productive and an even better place to work" commented Richard Frey, North American Safety, Health and Environment Manager for Quadrant. Mark Stelmack, Wilkes-Barre Area Director from OSHA added "this partnership represents an opportunity for Quadrant EPP to work with OSHA to identify ways to improve its management commitment, training, hazard identification and team work to move its safety and health program to a higher level, and a level that can achieve nationwide recognition".
As part of the partnership agreement, Quadrant EPP, a manufacturer of advanced plastic materials, will promote, institute, and maintain a safety and health management system to protect its employees based on OSHA guidelines which include: management leadership and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, and training. Quadrant is piloting the program at the Scranton, PA site to evaluate potential implementation at its other US sites.
Quadrant EPP will continue work toward improving injury and illness rates and prepare the Scranton, PA facility to apply for OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) in two years. Over the years, the VPP has proven to be an effective means of reducing injuries, illnesses, fatalities and costs, while fostering a more productive workforce and increasing employee morale.
