Systems Reduce Labor Costs, Improve Quality and Increase Productivity and Safety

GREENVILLE, Wisconsin- October 13, 2009, QComp Technologies, Inc., a leading robotics integrator, today announced it plans to showcase its newest suite of automatic glass and module load/unload and palletizing systems at the Solar Power International Show in Anaheim, California October 27-29, 2009. To be unveiled at the show is the company's Glass and Module Load and Unload Systems which help reduce labor, increase safety and productivity on the plant floor, and maintain product quality by eliminating scratching during the handling process. The company will also showcase its Compact Lean Palletizer (CLP) system whose compact design saves valuable floor space and increases productivity.

"As the demand for solar energy accelerates, it's critical to manufacturer's bottom line that their production lines keep pace," said Tom Doyle, president of QComp Technologies, Inc. "We are dedicated to providing the most advanced robotics and AGV material handing solutions for the solar module manufacturing industry. Our innovative automation solutions will greatly increase production line efficiency, resulting in greater throughput, better quality control, lower labor costs, and inventory reduction."

The glass load/unload system uses a six-axis ABB robot to unload glass or substrates from A-frame or L-frame racks and place them onto the production line. Powered by an ABB robot, the glass system utilizes a proprietary vision technology and tool developed by QComp. Vision is used to precisely locate the glass angle and edge for precision picking and placing without scratching. The system can be calibrated for various glass thicknesses. The system is capable of handling a large range of glass sizes as well. The QComp system features seamless integration with line controls. The module load/unload system uses a six-axis ABB robot to unload modules from the production line and place them into slotted racks. Powered an ABB robot, the module system also utilizes QComp's proprietary vision technology to precisely locate the slots and can be calibrated for various module thicknesses. The system is capable of handling a large range of module sizes as well. As with the glass load/unload system the module system features seamless integration with line controls.

The Compact Lean Palletizer (CLP) stacks completed PV modules onto pallets. Exceptional positioning accuracy means safe packaging. The compact footprint saves space and gives manufacturers the opportunity to deploy it into existing operations. Founded in 1990, QComp Technologies, Inc. is a robotics integrator, providing automation solutions for a variety of industries. The company designs and builds automated robotic manufacturing cells and material handling systems, as well as engineers and manufactures drive systems for paper, metal and converting industries. With headquarters in Greenville Wisconsin QComp has sales and service offices in Wausau and Milwaukee, WI.
