Promon Implements AVEVA Software on Major Brazilian Mining Project

AVEVA NET and AVEVA PDMS successfully deployed on Project Vanadio enabling Integrated Project Execution

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – AVEVA announced today that Promon Engenharia, a leading Brazilian engineering contractor (EPCM) has successfully implemented AVEVA NET and AVEVA PDMS on a large mining project for Largo Resources. The project is Brazil’s first vanadium pentoxide production facility and is based in Maracas, Bahia state, 250km southwest of Salvador. By adopting AVEVA’s Integrated Project Execution approach, Promon is benefitting from reduced project schedules and greater efficiency through effective project-wide information sharing.

“This is a key project for Promon Engenharia and hugely important in the mining sector,” said Fabio Montrezor, Engineering Systems, Promon Engenharia. “During this greenfield project we are supplying both basic and detailed 3D engineering designs through the use of AVEVA PDMS. We are then able to share all file formats across the web in a secure way via AVEVA NET. All people working on the project have access to the appropriate data at each stage of design and construction. Thanks to the adoption of AVEVA’s Integrated Project Execution strategy using AVEVA software we can organise all elements of procurement, construction, inspection and management, ensuring that all project data is up to date.”

“Many companies who have implemented our design and engineering software together with AVEVA NET have seen the benefits of an integrated approach”, said Santiago Pena, Senior Vice President - Latin America, AVEVA. “Promon is combining the strengths of our engineering design and information management technologies to enhance data quality and integrity at every stage of this complex project. The adoption of the Integrated Project Execution strategy improves overall project efficiency by shortening schedules, lowering costs and improving the quality of deliverables. Promon and its customers will enjoy the benefits of a complete integrated solution from FEED through handover.”

About the project

Vanadium is an important alloying element in high-strength steel and has many applications as a catalyst in chemical processes. Economic deposits are relatively rare, making this a particularly important minerals project.

The Project Vanadio produces 9,634 tpy in an implementation area of 239,700 square metres. It used 10,100 cubic metres of concrete, 23,000 square metres of formwork, 561,557 tonnes of mesh sheets, 1,440 tonnes of metal structures, 235 items of mechanical equipment (2,600 tonnes), 158 tonnes of piping, 58 items of electrical equipment, 253 kilometres of power cabling and 1,814 instruments. The design and engineering was performed using AVEVA software. You can learn more about the project by visiting: www.promonengenharia.com.br/en-us/projetos/Pages/vanadio-de-maracas.aspx
