Press release date: January 26, 2012

Printed Circuits, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) has added to their manufacturing capacity with the purchase of a Plasma Etch MK II plasma etching system.

"Plasma etching is one of the most critical components in the manufacture of high reliability rigid flex, especially with regard to quality. Every board we build goes through our plasma chambers multiple times. In the last 12-18 months, we have been taking larger orders for higher volume rigid flex. We needed to increase our capacity, and still provide the reliability that our medical, military and industrial customers require" said Ken Tannehill, President and CEO of Printed Circuits. "The new equipment gives us the capacity to handle the higher volume projects at a lower cost, and with a much higher yield."

Plasma etching is an important component in high reliability rigid flex manufacturing. It is a unique process that uses a combination of electrically excited gases to remove organic materials from PWB surfaces, and thereby increase the adhesion of both the dielectrics and metals.

If you would like to learn more about higher volume, high reliability rigid flex considerations, design recommendations, buried passive rigid flex circuits, or UL qualification on rigid flex, please call or e-mail Bob Burns at (952) 886-9307, or Bburns@PrintedCircuits.com, or visit www.PrintedCircuits.comwww.PrintedCircuits.com>.
