Prestolite Electric Incorporated and Leece-Neville to Showcase New Product Technologies at APTA EXPO 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Arcade, New York, USA – Prestolite Electric Incorporated and Leece-Neville (www.prestolite.com) (Prestolite Electric), an ISO 9001/TS-16949:2009 and ISO14001:2004-certified global manufacturer of heavy-duty alternators and starter motors, is pleased to announce their planned participation in the American Public Transportation Association Expo (APTA EXPO 2014), October 13-15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, USA.

As an industry event held just once every three years, APTA EXPO 2014 is widely recognized as the global public transport industry’s premier showcase for industry innovations, services, and products.  The venue hosts more than 750 international exhibitors--the world’s largest collection under one roof--and brings together over 15,000 industry professionals. On display at the Prestolite Electric/Leece-Neville Booth #1407 will be a number of recently introduced product technologies, including:

-- The AVi160, a heavy-duty, 240-amp high-output alternator. The AVi160 offers 150 amps of available current at engine idle. The alternator features a state-of-the-art rotor design, incorporating the use of heavy-duty bearings, along with an e-coated housing for high corrosion resistance and extended field service. AVi160 also includes a remote sense capability to optimize alternator output and extend battery life. Units feature a high-temperature rating to +125°C.

-- The AVi2800, a next-generation upgrade of the popular workhorse 2800 series.  This latest version provides an expanded output of 190 amps (30 more than the prior version), with an expanded operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.  Dual internal fans optimize cooling and improve reliability. A built-in remote sense optimizes alternator output and extends battery life. The enhanced mechanical design of the AVi2800 further incorporates heavy-duty bearings and an e-coated corrosion-resistant housing for many miles of trouble-free operation. This series has been the product of choice for many commercial truck and school bus manufacturers, as well as associated aftermarket requirements.

-- The 4000 series, a family of severe duty alternators, designed to meet the reliability and performance demands of fire trucks and other emergency service vehicles. Series units are offered with current ratings of up to 320 amps (12 Volt version), depending upon selected model.  They are also easily configurable for multi-unit operation, with collective capability to provide up to 1,280 amps. Electrical connections of the 4000 series are welded to diodes for added reliability and safety. The incorporation of a state-of-the-art rectifier system also extends 4000 series operating temperatures up to +125°C.

Notes Allan Vincent, Director of OE Sales, “We are very much looking forward to our participation in this year’s ATPA EXPO 2014. The show has traditionally afforded us a highly-respected world stage on which to present our heavy-duty alternators and starter motors, and particularly before one of the industry’s most targeted audiences.”
