GOTHENBURG, Sweden, September 17/ / -- In time-sensitive industries, such as health care and manufacturing, Ascom's wireless telephones make users available 24/7 for the exchange of information. In the event a user is temporarily unavailable, a caller needs to know why and when he can call back to deliver the critical information.
Using the latest Ascom i75 wireless telephone release, a caller is messaged by Presence Management, Ascom's system for inputting and transmitting a user's availability information to a caller.
"We listen to our users, get their product feedback, and then incorporate that feedback into our wireless telephones," says Henrik Sandberg, Ascom's VoWiFi Product Manager. "They wanted an easy-to-use system to message a user's availability to the caller, and we went ahead and integrated Presence Management. After extensive use and testing in Northern Europe, we're rolling it out world-wide."
Push-to-Talk, Ascom's walkie-talkie functionality, also debuts in the Ascom i75. By simply pushing a button, two or more co-workers engage in a remote conversation to quickly solve a problem or exchange time-critical information.
Fast and secure roaming, with high security and seamless base station switching, is improved for this release using opportunistic and proactive key caching. Ascom's WiFi standard TSPEC call admission control functionality reduces congestion when multiple calls occur at a single base station. "These behind-the-scenes technical improvements help to insure smoother operability and higher security for our VoWiFi customers," concludes Sandberg.
