Pratt & Whitney Joint Venture Names Chan Kwai Wan General Manager


EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 7 / -- Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners (GSP), a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company, and its joint venture partner, China Eastern Airlines, have named Chan Kwai Wan general manager of the Shanghai Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engine Maintenance Co., Ltd.

In this new role, Chan will oversee the construction and start-up of the new CFM56 engine overhaul facility, which is expected to induct its first engine in late 2008. Chan also will provide leadership in managing all aspects of the business and driving operational excellence.

Chan has held a number of leadership positions in aircraft engine component repair and overhaul throughout his 25 year career in the aerospace industry. In his most recent role as lean manager for Pratt & Whitney engine overhaul centers, Chan led the operational transformation of six Pratt & Whitney worldwide overhaul and repair businesses. Chan earned an MBA from the State University of New York and an MS from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom.
