Press release date: January 4, 2013

Toronto, Canada - GAO Comm (www.GAOComm.com) recommends its portable optical fiber identifier for installation and maintenance of fiber networks. This fiber identifier employs safe and reliable macro bending technology to avoid disruption of network communications that would normally be caused by disconnecting or cutting a fiber optic cable for identification and testing.

This easy-to-use handheld optical fiber identifier, model C0230002, features “one key” operation, low bending loss and highly efficient output. It is able to efficiently identify the traffic direction and signal frequency including 270 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz with an audible indicator which activates an intermittent tone in the presence of traffic. It also identifies the wavelength range of 800 to 1700 nm and displays the core power of the fibers from -50 to 0 dBm.

This identifier is specially designed for the maintenance of telecommunication and CATV systems and other fiber optics networks. It utilizes a Ø1mm InGaAs detector. Ø0.25, Ø0.9, Ø2.0 and Ø3.0 replaceable adaptors for various optical cables are provided. The mechanical damp design of its adapter heads helps to prevent fiber damage. In addition, it is encapsulated within a durable metal housing and is powered by a 9 V alkaline battery.

This compact portable optical fiber identifier belongs to GAO's family of Optical Fiber Identifiers. Another similar product in this line is Compact Fiber Optic Identifier which is capable of maintaining normal communications while identifying the transmission direction, speed and relative signal strength on its 5-level display. GAO's products adhere to a variety of quality standards for optical fibers and optical fiber identifiers. Also our customers are located around the world.
