Press release date: July 10, 2007

For Immediate Release: July 10, 2007, NextComputing of Nashua, NH announces the latest feature addition to the NextDimension Evo line of portable flextop computers, support for up to (8) 146GB/10K RPM SAS drives. The company utilizes Seagate Technology's Savvio® 10K.2 SAS drives. SAS drives can provide up to 2x the data transfer rates of SATA drives. This massive, high-speed storage configuration enables portability for high throughput data streaming applications.

In order to provide sustained read/write rates comparable to those of much larger, stationary systems, the NextDimension Evo and Evo HD rely on three key elements: the maximum number of high-speed drives, the performance of top of the line processor cores, and (4) high performance PCI or PCIe slots. The Evo Series accommodates (6) of the 146 GB/10KRPM SAS drives in the user-accessible bay and (2) drives in the fixed bay. The NextPak option can be added to support up to (4) or (5) additional 146GB / 10KRPM SAS drives, dependent upon RAID controller configuration.

NextComputing also recently announced support for up to (16) 160GB/7200 RPM SATA drives. Both additions reflect the company's recent focus on a niche that is underserved in the Telecom/Datacom markets; the need for portability in high performance systems for use as sniffers, traffic generators, or data recorders.

"As technology across all industries trends towards mobile computing, we see the use of our systems in the Telecom/Datacom markets as a toolbox. This enables technicians to reduce the time it takes to monitor, record and stream data by providing all they need in a portable package, eliminating the need for bulky equipment, long cords, and on site equipment solely for these purposes," explains Bob Labadini, President and CTO of NextComputing.

The Evo configured with these drives also provides the ideal portable platform for two additional industries. The Broadcasting industry can utilize the configuration for high definition recording and the Military/Intelligence community can use the same technology for portable signal and data acquisition.

About NextComputing: One of the first in a unique breed of technology companies to specialize in high-performance, small form factor, portable computing solutions, the company invented the flextop, a personal supercomputer offering open standards, modular architecture in a package the size of a small briefcase.
