Press release date: October 7, 2005

Knoxville, TN - Plant Engineering magazine has selected Online Development's xCoupler enterprise transaction module as a finalist in the magazine's annual Product of the Year awards competition. The xCoupler was chosen as a finalist by a panel of judges comprised of Plant Engineering subscribers who are users of control equipment in manufacturing plants.

The xCoupler module installs in factory floor PLCs to communicate manufacturing data to company business systems and enables business systems to control plant floor equipment. It provides a simpler and more secure method to provide real time information flow between the plant floor and business systems than conventional HMI- or PC-based custom software methods.

In the November issue of Plant Engineering, the magazine's 100,000 subscribers will receive voting cards along with the magazine to choose the top products in 15 categories. Winners in each category will be announced in January 2006 and awards will be presented to winners in March 2006 at the National Manufacturing Show in Rosemont, Illinois. The April 2006 issue of Plant Engineering will showcase all Product of the Year award winners.

"We are very pleased by having been chosen as a finalist in this very important competition, especially since the judges are potential end users of the xCoupler," commented Ron Monday, Online Development's President and CEO. "Being recognized by the leading publication that serves the plant engineering profession is a real honor."
