Plancal Nova Software for MEP Contractors and Engineers Integrates with Trimble Construction Layout and Fabrication Solutions

New Functionality Integrates Native File Support for Trimble Field Link for MEP, Trimble SketchUp and Vulcan Fabrication Solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif.- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced the release of its Plancal nova software for CAD and calculation application for engineers and installers. Version 9 includes new features such as a cooling load calculation module (implementing the European DIN 6007-1 Standard), wastewater pipe detailing capability and improved freshwater engineering calculation module. To provide more detailed information from the office to field applications, nova v9 also incorporates native file support for Trimble® SketchUp as well as Trimble's Field Link for MEP construction layout and Vulcan fabrication solutions. The new functionality supports Trimble's effort to promote the exchange of Building Information Model (BIM) data across mechanical, engineering and plumbing (MEP) project-based workflows from estimating to design, engineering to fabrication and field layout.

A key element of Trimble's overall MEP portfolio, Plancal nova is a 3D CAD/CAE software solution, which integrates design, drawing and engineering calculation/analysis through a proprietary CAD-core. Trimble's focus is to build upon and extend its market presence in Central Europe as well as the United Kingdom by continuing to enhance and invest in nova's core feature development.

"We view the Plancal nova software as a part of the evolution and maturation of our MEP portfolio. Providing holistic connections between key MEP stakeholders helps to reduce errors and creates project efficiencies that equate to improved productivity for our customers," said Pat Bohle, general manager of Trimble's MEP Division.

"Adding Trimble SketchUp model support as well as integration with the Trimble Field Link for MEP layout and Vulcan fabrication products to Plancal nova v9 demonstrates our commitment to meet the unique needs of the European MEP market and Trimble's capabilities to optimize the BIM workflow," said Dominik Rueedi, CEO of Plancal.

Plancal nova v9 as well as Trimble's field layout and 3D laser solutions are available now for Central European customers directly through Plancal.
