HARLEYSVILLE, PA, June 13, 2006 - Pittman, a leading electric motor manufacturer, has been integrated with the AMETEK Technical & Industrial Products business unit, following an acquisition by AMETEK Inc. Expanded marketplace offerings and capabilities can be anticipated.
The Pittman product line includes PITTMANŽ brand brush-commutated DC motors and electronically commutated DC motors. The AMETEK unit produces brushless DC motors, slotless motors, motor controllers, blowers, fans, and pumps for a variety of similar end-use markets.
PITTMAN motor applications include data storage, medical and electronic equipment, factory automation, and commercial aviation, among others. For Pittman, the acquisition represents a new chapter for the company founded in suburban Philadelphia, PA, in the 1930s. Pittman has long been associated with industry-recognized expertise in product innovation, customization, and high levels of customer service.
The acquisition is expected to broaden product offerings and the geographic reach of AMETEK's technical motor business and further strengthen strategic relationships with key industry OEMs.
