Press release date: March 24, 2009

WALTHAM, MA, March 24, 2009 - Photovac, Inc., the manufacturer of premium instruments for volatile organic compound analysis in air is pleased to introduce diacetyl measurement capability for the Voyager portable gas chromatograph. Diacetyl, an artificial flavoring used in popcorn, chips and candies to provide a buttery taste has been linked to the development of bronchiolitis obliterans, a serious and irreversible lung disease. Used by NIOSH (the National Institute for Safety and Health) in their research regarding airborne exposure to diacetyl, the Voyager portable gas chromatograph provides accurate, low-level diacetyl measurements. Results are provided on-site for immediate review, thereby eliminating time-consuming and costly laboratory analyses. Further, the Voyager provides datalogging capability so readings can be stored in the instrument and downloaded to a computer for subsequent analysis and recordkeeping purposes.
