Press release date: April 11, 2011

MILPITAS, Calif., April 11, 2011 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd., the global leader in core system software (BIOS) products, services, and embedded technologies, today announced that it has selected IDF 2011 in Beijing on April 12 and 13 to introduce upcoming support for the Intel® Boot Loader Development Kit (Intel® BLDK) as part of its SecureCore Tiano(TM) (SCT) product. According to Steve Chan, Phoenix Technologies' Chief Technology Officer:

"Phoenix Technologies views the Intel® BLDK as an integral part of a design environment and is pleased to support it as an extension of our service scope that leverages our core competencies."

Intel BLDK is based on EDK2, which provides a smaller build and version tracking environment for UEFI and PI development. The Intel BLDK assists the developer in the loading process of drivers, development tools, support utilities, and pre-boot applications (PBA). By supporting the Intel BLDK, Phoenix Technologies is in the position of providing excellent customer support in this area of development. Phoenix has structured SCT to adapt in line with the UDK2010 transition by remaining in sync with silicon vendors; thus ensuring that Phoenix will be ready to serve OEM/ODMS when EDK2 is ready to launch.

"Intel recognizes that not all of our embedded customers will want to establish their own boot loader development personnel and capabilities," said Jonathan Luse, director of marketing for the Intel Low Power Embedded Products Division. "Intel has long worked with established BIOS vendors, like Phoenix Technologies, to provide BIOS solutions to embedded customers for their Intel® architecture based platforms, and we know that Phoenix has the technical experience and capabilities to help Intel establish a solid third-party ecosystem for products and services based on the Intel® BLDK."

Phoenix's booth will be located at GE21, China National Convention Center 4th floor. Please visit us to experience the latest technology breakthroughs in SecureCore Tiano. Phoenix will also provide live touchcreen, Intel BLDK boot up, and In-ROM Diagnostic demonstrations.
