Easy-to-use online service identifies weak industrial batteries, reduces battery changes
MONTGOMERYVILLE, Pa. - Philadelphia Scientific, The Lean Battery Room Experts(TM), a leading international manufacturer of industrial battery components and accessories, has introduced the iBOS® Battery Tracker(TM), a free online service that can help warehouses and distribution centers (DCs) reduce the frequency of battery changes by enabling them to identify weak batteries. Paired with Philadelphia Scientific's iBOS® (intelligent battery organizing system), this tool is an excellent means of improving battery performance.
Battery Tracker enables battery room managers and forklift operators to quantify battery run time. More important than clock time (the amount of time a battery has been sitting in a forklift), run time governs how frequently batteries are changed. Reducing battery changes increases the amount of time forklift operators are moving material, helping warehouses and DCs better manage their battery fleet and optimize their assets.
The iBOS Battery Tracker can be accessed through Philadelphia Scientific's new website, LeanBatteryRoom.com, a site dedicated to helping warehouses and DCs reduce waste, increase productivity and reduce costs in the battery room. In coming months, Philadelphia Scientific will add new content to the site that will provide information on battery room operation and maintenance techniques that can improve the battery room's overall performance.
"The primary impediment to implementing Lean practices in the battery room has been the lack of feedback - the ability to measure battery room performance," said Harold Vanasse, vice president of sales and marketing for Philadelphia Scientific. "Battery Tracker and other Philadelphia Scientific battery maintenance tools help quantify battery performance, providing important feedback that enables improved warehouse and DC productivity that can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in large operations."
