Globally compatible adapters provide cost-effective, energy-efficient power solutions for OEM applications...

FREMONT, Calif. -(January 22, 2009)-  Phihong USA, a global leader in power solutions, has announced that the 9V and 12V models in its 10W interchangeable plug series meet the new, more stringent ENERGY STARŽ EPS 2.0 requirement, which went into effect November 1, 2008. All PSM11R Series adapters were already in compliance with the United States' Federal Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) and the California Energy Commission's Appliance Efficiency Regulation (CEC).  PSM11R adapters are ideal for OEM applications, including wireless communications, portable equipment, networking, and peripherals.

"The requirements of the new ENERGY STAR EPS 2.0 standard are more stringent than past EPS requirements.  The EPS 2.0 requirement has raised the compliance criteria for minimum average efficiency in active mode and decreased the maximum no-load power consumption, both of which require adapters to be designed to use energy more efficiently,  something Phihong has long designed for and promoted," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA.

Regarding active mode efficiency, the minimum efficiency level for a 10W AC-DC adapter is 71% as specified by EPS 1.1, while the minimum efficiency level under EPS 2.0 is 77%.  Additionally, the maximum no-load power consumption for EPS 1.1 is 0.75W or less for adapters with an output power of 10W to 250W and 0.5W or less for adapters with an output power of less than 10W.  The maximum no-load power consumption for EPS 2.0 is 0.5W or less for adapters with an output power of 50W to 250W and 0.3W or less for adapters with an output power of less than 50W.

The 10W PSM11R Adapter Series features universal input and four interchangeable AC clip plugs, which enable it to connect with virtually every power outlet worldwide.  This global compatibility reduces OEM inventory counts by allowing for the use of a single part number.  It also simplifies the international approval process for products designed for global markets.  AC input clips are sold separately.

PSM11R adapters are double-insulated and feature Class B EMI compliance, as well as adhere to a 5% regulation.  The adapters are rated to operate between 0 degrees and 50 degrees C and between 0 and 90% humidity.  They also feature short-circuit protection with auto restart, as well as over-voltage protection.  The adapters bear cULus, TUV, CE, SAA, and C-Tick safety markings and approvals.

Each adapter in the series measures 2.82 inches in length by 1.77 inches in width by 1.17 inches in height.  The adapters' DC cords all terminate with a 2.1mm by 5.5mm barrel output connector, and each unit weighs 4.53 ounces.

Pricing for the PSM11R adapter series is $10 each at 100 pieces. Detailed specifications, which include a product demo, are available on the website at http://phihong.com/html/psm11r.html.
