Press release date: August 16, 2011

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-The 32nd Symposium on Pesticide Formulation and Delivery: Innovating Legacy Products for New Uses, will be held Nov. 1-3, 2011, at the Marriot Waterside Tampa in Tampa, Fla. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E35 on Pesticides and Alternative Control Agents, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the committee's fall standards development meetings.

The symposium has three primary purposes. First, it provides a forum for updates on new pesticide formulations, the function of formulation components, and new delivery systems to minimize environmental impact or increase efficacy. Second, it creates a forum to discuss proposed standards and the science behind those standards. Third, it provides a venue for networking among participants.

The symposium title is based on the concept that new genetically engineered crops will soon be commercialized that feature resistance to 2,4-D and dicamba, two of the oldest herbicides still registered in the United States. Both products present significant environmental challenges because of drift, and substantial work is being done to innovate these products and make the entire technology package sustainable.

Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes October 26. The fee to attend for ASTM members and non-members is $260 USD for online registration and $285 USD for onsite registration. There is no fee for presenters, session chairs and students with a valid ID.
