Perform a Wide Variety of Applications with a Single Model

Gaussian-to-top-hat converter g2T®: One for (nearly) everything

Synergy effects reduce the price

LIMO's "Gaussian-to-top-hat converter" (g2T®) has proven itself a successful model: LIMO is now offering its successful converters at a lower price. With the new g2T®, the user not only saves money, he also gets a single model suitable for performing a wide variety of applications.  The pain of choosing from among three converters for the wavelengths 355, 532, and 1064 nm is now a thing of the past.

"Customers had asked whether each model could also be used for other wavelengths," said Dr. Oliver Homburg, Director for Advanced Optical Solutions at LIMO Lissotschenko Mikrooptik GmbH Dortmund. "Now we have introduced a single model suitable for the wavelengths 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The larger quantities reduce the variety in production, and thanks to the synergy effects thus achieved, also the costs." However, there are still variants of the g2T® for different spot sizes.

The new g2T®s distinguish themselves not just through their lower price, but also through their advantages as compared to previous models. Thus, the previous performance (e.g. suitability for high power laser applications), the fields of application (solar technology, flat screens, semi-conductor industry, among others) and areas of application (microstructuring) is maintained. With just one product, customers can perform a wide variety of applications because this new development can be used for different wavelengths.

Generally, the advantages of the g2T® converters are: They ensure very homogeneous top hat profiles, which offer significant advantages as compared to Gaussian beams (single mode lasers) for many applications (e.g. the structuring of materials in micro-machining): With them, lasers work faster, more precisely (very clean edges, sharper and smooth corners) – with a much smaller heat affected zone. And furthermore, the per-piece costs are much lower due, among other things, to the higher processing speed.
