The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), an accredited standards developer and organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of David B. Calabrese as general counsel. In addition to his general counsel duties, Mr. Calabrese will continue to serve as AHRI's senior vice president for public policy, overseeing AHRI's federal, state, and international policy activities, as well as its regulatory and research areas.

Before joining AHRI in 2007, Mr. Calabrese served as vice president of government relations with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and held the position of director of government relations with the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA). He also worked as a lawyer with Dewey Ballantine LLP, where he represented association clients on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies.

Mr. Calabrese holds a master's degree in international relations from The George Washington University and a law degree from The George Washington University School of Law.

AHRI is a non-profit association representing manufacturers of air conditioning, heating, commercial refrigeration, and water heating equipment, and develops standards for and certifies the performance of many of these products. AHRI members manufacture quality, efficient, and innovative residential and commercial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment and components used in North America and around the world.
