People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer the Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) has announced the appointment of Bruce DeMaine as director of certifications and standards. He will be responsible for developing new personnel certifications and standards for the home energy efficiency retrofit marketplace. He will play a critical role in establishing BPI's certifications as national standards for the home performance workforce by guiding BPI through ANSI's personnel certification accreditation process.

A 25-year veteran of the environmental certification and accreditation field, Mr. DeMaine most recently served as vice president of certifications for the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

Prior to GBCI, Mr. DeMaine founded Precision Preservation and Inspection (PPI), a consulting firm specializing in areas of ISO quality systems, strategic planning, business process improvement, environmental compliance, and safety initiatives. He previously spent ten years as director of corporate QA, facilities, and safety for NSF International.

BPI is a leader in building performance credentialing, quality assurance, and standards setting, developing technical standards using an open, transparent, consensus-based process built on sound building science.
