People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

ANSI organizational member the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) has announced that Carrie Hartgen has joined the association as vice president of state government relations and regional affairs.

Ms. Hartgen has more than 15 years of state government relations experience with private sector interests and state and national industry trade associations. Prior to joining AdvaMed, she was director of legislative and regulatory affairs for National Strategies, Inc. She has also has worked as a senior state government affairs executive at Allergan, Cendant Corporation, Kmart, and the American Council of Life Insurers. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University.

AdvaMed is a membership organization for the medical technology industry. Accounting for 90 percent of the health care technology purchased annually in the U.S. and more than 50 percent globally, AdvaMed's member companies produce the medical devices, diagnostic products, and health information systems that are transforming health care through earlier disease detection, less invasive procedures, and more effective treatments.
