People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.
BICSI, an organizational member and accredited standards developer of as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Mark Coppa to the position of vice president of professional development.

Mr. Coppa has extensive and varied experience in telecommunications and related fields. He spent 17 years with the original and then successor companies of Pacific Bell, Pacific Telesis, and SBC, where his most recent position was director of data services provisioning and repair. He also served for seven years as senior vice president of global field services for Level 3 Communications, a global provider of fiber services. Most recently he has been providing consulting services to field construction companies.

Mr. Coppa holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and a master of business administration degree from the University of Redlands.

BICSI , a membership association for the information technology systems (ITS) industry, provides information, education, and knowledge assessment for individuals and companies in the ITS industry. BICSI serves more than 23,000 ITS professionals, including designers, installers, and technicians, who provide the fundamental infrastructure for telecommunications, audio/video, life safety, and automation systems.
