The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI), an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), is pleased to announce the appointment of John Jones as national technical director. He will play a critical technical leadership role in BPI's national expansion and serve as director of the organization's accreditation and quality assurance programs.

Previously, Mr. Jones was the program manager of the Home Performance Programs for the Residential Efficiency and Affordability Program (REAP) at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). His focus areas included the NYSERDA Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® and New York ENERGY STAR programs. He oversaw the development of the rules and regulations for the NYSERDA Green Residential Building Program, assisted in the development of the NYSERDA building science curricula, and served as an instructor for the New York Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.

Mr. Jones has provided guidance to national initiatives including the proposed HOME STAR legislation that is under development in Congress. He has also aided the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in enhancing the national Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. Prior to his work with NYSERDA, Mr. Jones owned and operated a residential and light commercial HVAC business serving central New York. He holds a bachelor of science degree in technical and trades education.

BPI is an independent, not-for-profit organization that develops standards for home performance and weatherization retrofit work. BPI supports the development of a highly professional building performance industry through individual and organizational credentialing and a rigorous quality assurance program.
