People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named John Adey as vice president, technical division. Mr. Adey previously served as the organization's technical division director for more than 7 years.
"As ABYC has grown into a global player on the standards front, John has played a key role in our development and leadership," said Dave Marlow, ABYC's technical board chairman. "He is clearly seen as the industry's defacto authority on all things regarding marine standards, and has literally improved the output of both international and domestic standards through his staff's involvement."
ABYC has been developing, writing, and updating safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for over 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the work of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and offers education and certification programs for marine technicians.
