People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

Tony Zertuche has been appointed program manager for international policy and deputy general secretary of the United States National Committee (USNC) / International Electroctechnical Commission (IEC) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), effective May 11, 2009. He has served as program administrator in standards facilitation for the Institute since March of 2007.

In his new role, Tony is responsible for providing staff support to the USNC's Communications and Continuing Education Committee and the Planning Committee for the IEC General Meeting in Seattle in 2010. In the coming weeks, he will assume responsibility for the USNC Technical Management Committee and will serve as the USNC alternate representative to the IEC Standardization Management Board.

Tony brings to the position multi-lingual capabilities in Spanish and Japanese that will support the USNC's relationships with a number of IEC National Committees around the world. Before joining ANSI, he was co-owner and general manager of a fire & flood restoration company. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1991-1995, where he was stationed in the Philippines and Japan and worked in human resources and education/training.

Tony holds a BS in Communications from The University of Texas at Austin.
