People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.



American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and accredited standards developer the International Code Council (ICC) recently named Dominic Sims as its new CEO. Prior to the announcement, Mr. Sims had been serving as the organization’s interim CEO and chief operating officer (COO).



Mr. Sims worked as the CEO for the Southern Building Code Congress International Inc. (SBCCI), a member organization focused on the development of model codes and standards related to the building industry that merged with ICC in 2003. Before joining SBCCI, he was the executive vice president for Florida’s Palm Beach County Planning, Zoning Building (PZ&B) Department. Mr. Sims received his bachelor of science degree in organizational management – business from Palm Beach Atlantic University.



The ICC, a membership association dedicated to building safety, fire prevention, and energy efficiency, develops codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. The International Codes serve as the basis for construction of federal properties around the world, and as a reference for many nations outside the United States.
