People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Jonathan Kurrle vice president of government affairs and public policy.
In this role, he will identify public policy issues, opportunities and challenges of interest to the plastics industry. He will also manage SPI's relationship with the federal government, Congress, state legislative bodies, and state and local institutions.

With seventeen years of experience in the federal government and government relations, Mr. Kurrle comes to SPI from the Association for Manufacturing Technology, where he has served as government relations director since 2001.

Prior to that position, he was a government relations representative for the law firm Reed Smith LLP. From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Kurrle served as a legislative assistant for U.S. Representative Dennis Hastert (R-IL).
