Pedestrian Safety Committee names John Brault as Chairman.

February 2, 2012 - John Brault, a biomechanics consultant at Semper Scientific in Mission Viejo, CA, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear. Brault specializes in forensic biomechanics related to injuries from collisions or falls and research associated with tribometer validation, walkway safety, and footwear. In addition to his consultant work, he is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Southern California.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -John Brault, a biomechanics consultant at Semper Scientific in Mission Viejo, Calif., has been named the new chairman of ASTM International Committee F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear. The committee, with a membership of more than 130, develops standards for pedestrian safety for the fit and function of footwear in relation to interfaces, walking surfaces, and devices used for the evaluation of pedestrian traction. A member of ASTM International since 1998, Brault works on several F13 subcommittees and is vice chairman of Subcommittee F13.40 on Research. He received an Award of Appreciation from F13 in 1997, and the Award of Excellence in 2011. Brault specializes in forensic biomechanics related to injuries from collisions or falls and research associated with tribometer validation, walkway safety and footwear. In addition to his consultant work, he is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Southern California. Outside ASTM International, Brault is a member of the American Society of Biomechanics, the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine and the International Code Council. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Tufts University, Medford, Mass., and a master's degree in physical therapy from the University of Southern California.
