Paul T. Pepler of GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. Presents Innovative Remediation Approach at Conference

MANCHESTER, NH AND AMHERST, MA...ISSUED June 22, 2011...Paul T. Pepler of GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. recently presented a case study entitled "Trash Saves Cash - Green Remediation Using Waste or Off-Spec Materials" at the Sustainable Remediation 2011 State of the Practice International Conference in Amherst MA.

The presentation summarized two successful case studies where waste/off-spec materials were used as remedial additives to remediate a chlorinated solvent contaminated aquifer. The advantages of using carbohydrate-based waste materials for remediation applications are threefold. They can stimulate biodegradation of otherwise persistent contamination; these materials can often be readily obtained at a fraction of the cost of commercial additives thereby reducing remedial costs; and because they are sometimes destined for disposal at a municipal landfill, recycling them for use in environmental remediation projects conserves landfill space.

A resident of Manchester, NH, Pepler attended the University of New Hampshire (UNH) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Environmental Engineering.

Pepler holds a license in On Site Wastewater System Design from the State of NH and an Engineer in Training license from the NH State Board of Professional Engineers. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
